BCRW annual 'School Supply Drive' kickoff

Contributed

The Bandera County Republican Women will kickoff their annual School Supply Drive from 6 pm until 8 pm, Thursday, August 8, at the Lakehills Area Library, FM 1283 between Lakehills and Pipe Creek.
The public is invited to enjoy finger foods and cold drinks, meet BCRW members and library staff and donate supplies for distribution to the schools in Bandera County.
The BCRW School Supply Drive will continue from 11:30 am until 1 pm, Friday August 9, at the Silver Sage Community Center, 803 Buck Creek Boulevard, with free hot dogs, chips and cold drinks.
Many families in Bandera County struggle to meet their everyday necessities and the added expense of backpacks, school supplies, school clothes, shoes and clothes for physical education just isn't in their budgets. School administrators and faculty can identify students who would benefit from the donated items.
For those unable to shop for school supplies, BCRW will also accept donations of cash, checks and gift cards. School administrators will use these donations to shop for specific items. As examples, many students in local communities are without shoes and gym clothes. A gift card from Payless Shoes, Wal-Mart, Target, or any other large store would be greatly appreciated.
For those unable to attend the kickoff mixers on August 8 and 9, a collection box for school supplies will be available at the Lakehills Area Library for donations. In addition, cash, checks or gift cards can be left with library personnel.
