August Heart Foundation offers screening for teens

The August Heart Foundation, together with the Championship Hearts Foundation, will offer free heart screenings for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy to teens 14-18 at Northeast Baptist Hospital at 8811 Village Drive in San Antonio, on Saturday, August 3 from 8 am until noon.
HCM is the leading cause of sudden cardiac death in young people, with 1 in 250 students being at risk. HCM causes a thickening of the heart wall, and can lead to obstruction of blood flow and an erratic heartbeat. HCM typically does not present any symptoms.
The free screenings take approximately 20 minutes.
