BISD gets grant for school security
Bandera Middle School was awarded a $3,000 grant from the Texas Association of School Boards Risk Management Fund. The TASB grant monies help implement safety and loss prevention initiatives.
Grants totaling $620,000 have been awarded to 221 public school districts and education entities in Texas this year. Bandera ISD has been the recipient of this grant for the past six years. Safety initiatives were one of the primary areas in which grants were awarded.
Bandera ISD's grant will fund an expansion of the security cameras on the Middle School campus.
"I believe up-grading and improving our existing camera system is a huge step in ensuring the safety of our students and staff. After our initial camera system was installed, we immediately began to see the value in such systems. Our plan is to accomplish this task in several phases, and this grant will allow us to achieve that goal," said Principal Donald Tosh.
