Giving back to Bandera County

Contributed

On Thursday, April 25, Gary Johnston, second from right, president of the Bandera County Leadership Advisory Board, and Sam Womble, second from left, Texas A&M extension agent, along with Laura Klinksiek, right, 4-H program assistant, presented Bandera County Commissioners with a symbolic check for $62,711.62. That amount represented 2,878 hours generated by 4-H volunteers in 2012. During that time, 172 adult and youth volunteers averaged 16 hours per person at $21 per hour, according to Womble. Thanking Womble and Klinksiek for their contributions to county youth, County Judge Richard Evans said, "You've certainly helped with our juvenile dockets. This organization - along with the Boys & Girls Club - guides youth in the right direction." Accepting the symbolic check on behalf of the county were Precinct 2 Commissioner Bobby Harris, Precinct 1 Commissioner Bob Grimes, Evans, Precinct 3 Commissioner Andy Wilkerson and Precinct 4 Commissioner Doug King.
