Kerrville closures on I-10 & Hwy 16

Announcement

Administrators with the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) has coordinated with Texas Department of Transportation engineers to perform overhead utility work requiring closures on state Highway 16 and Interstate 10, Sunday and Monday, April 21 and 22, causing significant delays for traffic on those dates.
Contractors working for LCRA have already set concrete traffic barriers on the entrance and exit ramps along I-10 at Highway 16 earlier in April. Those barriers have reduced the width of the lanes coming onto and going off of the interstate, and will remain in place until the end of the month.
Beginning April 21, LCRA crews will close the westbound lane of I-10. The closure will reduce traffic to a single lane through the day. In addition to the closure of the westbound lane of IH-10, traffic-control flaggers will periodically stop traffic in all directions of Highway 16 through both days. Benson Road, a city street, will close as well.
During these closures, the westbound entrance and exit ramps associated with Highway 16 - Exit 508 - will also be periodically closed. When the ramp is closed, traffic will be re-routed to Ranch to Market 783.
These periodic closures will come in 15-minute stints. Traffic controllers will allow traffic to flow continually beside those short closures. TxDOT engineers, Kerrville police and LCRA crews are still coordinating logistical details for the closure. All major closures will take place between the hours of 7 am until 6 pm.
