Sides announces for re-election
Jerry Sides announced his candidacy for re-election to the Precinct 3 Director's chair on the Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District (BRCRAGD) this week.
In a statement, Sides offered the following points:
"• For 20 years, I have served the citizens of this county as a director for the Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District board. I fully understand the issues and challenges associated with protecting our natural resources in Bandera County.
"• I am no stranger to Bandera County; my family has been here for 150 years.
"• I am a strong property rights advocate; I am a landowner and a taxpayer. The district recently adopted a mission statement designed to protect our water resources while safeguarding the property rights of the citizens of Bandera County. I strongly agree with this tenet and believe we must maintain local control of our water resources.
"• I want to continue to serve the citizens of Bandera County in order to see an ASR (Aquifer Storage and Recovery) Program implemented. This program can be a viable solution to our chronic water needs.
"• I am a fiscal conservative and I will not tolerate taxpayer money being wasted.
"• I am an experienced water well driller. This experience provides me with the understanding of the conditions and characteristics of the aquifers in Bandera County.
"I appreciate the chance to once again serve the citizens of Bandera County," Sides said.
A Meet the Candidate affair will be held this Saturday, April 20 from 11 am to 1 at the Rusty Wheel lot next to Sonic in Bandera. The public is invited to come out, enjoy hotdogs and refreshments and get to know the candidate better.
