Big winners of Wildhog Explosion


The biggest winner during the 11th annual Wild Hog Explosion, held Saturday March 16 at Mansfield Park, was the Bandera County Public Library. The weather was perfect for successful fundraiser, which garnered a record number of sponsors and participants.
First up for the Wild Hog Catch were the children's divisions - Piglets, Porkers and Shoats where everyone who touched a hog won!
The first team division was the Lightweight, ages 10 to 15 years, and the Grand Champion team of Wyatt Coiner and Ian Short from Bandera scored in 14.6 seconds! Reserve Champion team was Jacob and Jessie Brown from Bandera with a score of 16.6 seconds.
In the Middleweight - female only category - Grand Champion team was Brook Rollins and Ann Bluntzen from Fort Worth and Reserve Champions were Helen Hubert from La Vernia and Helen Kerwin from Glen Rose. The Middle Weight ages 16 to 19 years brought Grand Champion winners from Uvalde, Brad Edwards and Paul Vargas, with a 7.5 second score. Reserve Champions, Matt Bass and Colton Griffith of Boerne, posed a score of 8.5 seconds.
Considering the weight of the hogs, the Heavy Weight Division open to all ages had really impressive times. Grand Champion Winners were John Hatch from Madison, Mississippi and Try Burns from Weimar posted a score of just 6.0 seconds. Reserve Champions were Scott Hubert from La Vernia and Mark Rollins of Fort Worth with a time of 6.8 seconds.
The All Bike rally hosted by the Christian Motor Cycle Association had over 100 bikes participate in the fun poker run. Best Hand went to Tom Wiarda from Hckley, Iowa with Worst Hand going to Garrett Hauck of Bandera.

The Bandera County Public Library thanks everyone who contributed to another successful fundraiser. Without the help and support of the sponsors and volunteers this annual event would not be possible.
