What's happening in the Texas Legislature?

Have you been hearing about CSCOPE lately?
Comfort ISD and Bandera ISD are on the list of school districts using this curriculum. The 83rd Legislature now in session in Austin is considering several bills concerning CSCOPE.
This month's meeting of the Boerne Tea Party Patriots, slated for 6:30 pm, Thursday, March 14, at the Patrick Heath Public Library in Boerne, will feature an update on these and other important bills being considered. The meeting is open to the public.
Jon Oliver, communications director for State Senator Donna Campbell, will be the featured speaker.
He is a graduate of Boerne High School and the University of Texas at Austin, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Advertising. Oliver has an extensive background in writing, media, social media and communications. As a senior member of Campbell's staff, he will address questions related to her policy positions.
Bills that may be discussed include:
• HB 1076 and HB 553 - dealing with the protection of Texas' citizens' right to bear arms.
• SJR 5 - proposing a constitutional amendment related to the rights of individuals to choose or decline to purchase health insurance coverage.
• SB 182 - addressing concealed carry of handguns on campuses.
• SB 521 - relating to parental permission for students to participate in sexuality and family planning training in public schools.
• SB 1029 - prohibiting conversion of non-toll roads to toll roads.
