BEC 2013 Youth Tour winners announced


Bandera Electric Cooperative will be sending four area students on an all-expense paid trip to Washington, DC from June 13 -21 as part of the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour.
The winners are Chantel Snow from Utopia (Utopia ISD), Chase Jones from Utopia (Utopia ISD), John Derry from Medina (Bandera High School), and Justus Felkins of Utopia (Homeschooled).

The alternates are Katherine Clark of Utopia (Utopia ISD) and Cecelia Schaefer of Vanderpool (Utopia ISD).
Students were required to submit an application and an essay addressing how lives were changed when electricity was brought to our area in the 1930s.
The Electric Cooperative Youth Tour has brought high school students to Washington, D.C. since the late 1950's. Over 40,000 students from rural areas and small towns across America have participated in this unique program. Bandera Electric sent its first Youth Tour participant in 1972; since then, 83 area students have received this chance of a lifetime.
