Star Stepper Dance Camp a success

Thirty-eight Pre-K through 5th grade girls attended the annual Star Stepper Dance Camp during the first week in February. The young dancers learned from BHS' award winning Star Steppers Dance Team all the moves that made that team a success. The culmination of their camp week was a performance in front of a packed house on Friday, Feb. 8 during the half time of the BHS Boys Varsity basketball game against the Wimberley Texans.
"The best thing was watching their faces light up every day as they walked into dance camp, and hearing stories from them about how much they had been practicing. It was proof of how much they enjoyed their time with us," said sponsor Jamie George. George intends to continue the camp next year.
"Working with the girls was amazing because their energy made me keep going," replied Senior Co-Captain Chrysta Smith.
The four-day camp taught the young dancers the basics and a routine which they energetically performed on Friday.
"I already knew I wanted to be a teacher, but the daily interactions with the girls inspired me that much more," volunteered Junior Kristen Tirado.
The Star Steppers and the young dancers practiced for four days in the newly expanded BHS Cafeteria.
"I loved sharing something with them that we loved so much," said Junior Star Stepper Courtney Backer.
