Newly minted officials take oaths

By Judith Pannebaker BCC Editor

As his first official act of 2013, Bandera County Judge Richard Evans administered oaths of office on Tuesday, Jan. 2, to newly elected - as well as newly re-elected - county officials.
All set for four-year terms as public servants are Sheriff Dan Butts, County Attorney Janna Lindig, Tax Assessor-Collector Gwenda "Winnie" Tschirhart, Precinct 1 Constable Phil Tobin, Precinct 2 Constable Ernie Reich, Precinct 3 Constable Don Walters, Precinct 4 Constable Rod Chalmers, Precinct 1 Commissioner Bob Grimes and Precinct 3 Commissioner Andy Wilkerson.
Butts retook the oath after being sworn in immediately after prevailing over his Democrat opponent James "Bubba" Popham in the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
Evans also swore in deputies with the Bandera County Sheriff's Office and staff from the office of County Clerk Candy Wheeler.
During his years on the bench, Evans said, he has seen elected officials come and go, adding "When (you) new ones develop the necessary bruises, callouses and scars, you'll be okay."
