Cowgirl Round-up & Show-deo returns on Jan. 1

To honor and pay homage to the spirit of western women and their horses, the fifth annual Cowgirl Round-up and Show-deo will take place Tuesday, Jan. 1, at the Hill County State Natural Area.
Gates open at 11 am, but the day officially kicks-off in the Lodge Arena at High Noon - that's 12 pm, sharp! - when all the cowgals and their steeds will assemble for the traditional panoramic photo. Participants are asked to wear their cowgirl hats and be there early for the photo.
The day's activities also include a parade of breeds, cowgirl interviews, exciting demonstrations and mounted drill teams. Other featured events include trail horse challenges, barrel racing and pole bending.
"Woman, bring your favorite equine partner and come join in the fun," said an event spokeswoman. "Everyone is welcome and there's no charge for this event. This will take place 'snow or shine' on New Year's Day!"
The Hill Country State Natural Area is located 10 miles south of Bandera. Take Ranch Road 1077 - off Highway 173 South - to 10600 Bandera Creek Road. For more information, contact Leanne Beauxbeannes at 830-796-4413 or leanne.beauxbeannes@twod.tx.us.
