Stith injured in motorcycle accident

By Carolyn B. Edwards BCC Staff Writer

Bandera County Fire Marshal John Stith was seriously injured in a one-vehicle accident late Sunday afternoon, Nov. 25.
Stith was air-lifted to University Hospital in San Antonio after his motorcycle either struck a deer or swerved to miss a deer on FM 337 approximately one mile from State Highway 187.
According to Constable Don Walters, who was the first officer on the scene, Stith was apparently traveling east on 337, coming from Vanderpool and heading to Medina.
Walters said Stith was "skinned up pretty good... complaining of chest pains."
Another source reported that Stith may have had a punctured lung, a broken leg and arm, and knee damage requiring surgery.
The accident occurred around 4 pm.
