Schreiner to host math, science conference for young women

Special to the Courier

Schreiner University is putting a call out to young women, sixth through eighth grade, who are interested in math or science to attend the upcoming Expanding Your Horizons conference from 9 am to 4 pm Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center.
The career conference, hosted by Schreiner University in conjunction with the American Association of University Women, will feature lab experiments and speeches by women who use math and science in their everyday job. In addition, a free conference for parents of girls in attendance will be conducted from 10 am to noon the same day. This information session will help parents learn how to prepare their daughters for college and cover topics including college options, scholarships and high school preparatory classes.
Registration is $12 per student and covers lunch, materials, labs and speakers.
T-Shirts are available for an additional $8.
Those interested can register online through Nov. 5 at www.schreiner.edu/eyh or through mail-a printable registration form is available online.
For more information about the conference, email Dr. Diana Comuzzie at Comuzzie@schreiner.edu.
