Sidney Baker Bridge over Guadalupe to close for repairs

Contributed

According to Josh Donat, Texas Department of Transportation public information officer, Highway 16 North - aka as Sidney Baker Road - will be closed between Water Street and Spur 98 nightly through next week. During that time, work crews with Angel Brothers Construction will repair and resurface the highway across the Guadalupe River.

Work began the night of Wednesday, Oct. 3, with the roadway closing at 8 pm. Lanes were reopened at 6 am. For the duration of the roadwork, all traffic will be diverted to Francisco Lemos Street via Main Street and Spur 98. Signs will be posted to mark the route. No work will be done on Friday or Saturday nights.

While crews repair the pavement on Sidney Baker, underground conduits will be placed at the intersection of Water Street and Sidney Baker. These conduits will make future upgrades to the signal at the intersection less expensive and much easier. A new layer of pavement will be placed between Main Street and Spur 98 and crews will repair the signals at Water Street and Spur 98.

If weather permits, the work should take about a week. The roadway will be closed nightly to accommodate the work.
