As the photos indicate, hats thrown in the political ring translated to hands in the hat - of Deputy Marshal Scott MacNaughton - on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

On that date, candidates for city council and mayor drew for places on the ballot during the Tuesday, Nov. 6, General Election.

When the colorful plastic eggs were selected and cracked open, prospective councilmen - in order of their appearance on the ballot - are challenger James Hannah, incumbent Nancy Montgomery, challenger Carolyn B. Edwards and incumbent John Hegemier.

In the mayor's race, the name of Mayor Pro Tem Maggie Schumacher will appear first on the ballot with Don Clark's name following.

Clark's representative in the drawing declined to participate in the traditional photo op.
