Music festival calls for poster entries

Area artists with a passion for the community and a love of music are encouraged to enter the first-ever SAGE Music Festival Poster contest.

The deadline is Monday, Aug. 27 at 4:30 pm.

Artists, who are at least 18 years old and living within a 60-mile radius of San Antonio, are invited to participate and submit their artwork that best represents the musical legacy of the Eastside of San Antonio through its diverse cultures.

Artwork must be delivered to SAGE's offices at 1149 East Commerce, Suite 210. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

The winning poster design will receive $1,000 and be honored at the 2012 SAGE Music Festival Poster Unveiling in September. The winner's design and its elements will serve as the official artwork for the festival's memorabilia, including the commemorative poster. In addition, the winner will have the opportunity to showcase and offer for sale, other works on the festival grounds at the non-profit organization's inaugural SAGE Music Festival on Saturday, Oct. 20.

One artist submission per entry and the poster must be an original art piece that is production-ready, vertical poster format measuring 30" wide by 40" high. Entries must be mounted on foam core. Stretched canvas is acceptable if appropriate for the medium.

A selection committee will select no more than 10 semifinalists, and SAGE will select the overall winner. The winner will be named at a public unveiling in September, one month prior to the inaugural festival.

Judges will look at concept, artistic integrity, visual presentation and merchandising adaptation.
