School daze looms - last chance for summer reads

By Julie Whitmore Library Contributor

Our wacky weather has been so humid that most of us are waiting to see if the traditional dog days of August will surpass the unpleasantness of June and July. To combat the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer, step into the cool Bandera County Public Library August 4 for our First Saturday Book Sale.

The sale will be held from 9 am to 1 pm in the library across from Market Days at the Bandera County Courthouse.

This month we offer a goodly supply of cookbooks and do-it-yourself around the home books for helping settle into the school routine, as well as a large supply of children's books to encourage reading. These of course are in addition to our usual abundant supply of best sellers, thrillers and "beach reads."

We've been lucky to be gifted with a collection of novels by iconic western writer Zane Grey, which are being featured at a special price of $5 per volume. They are all hardcover, and in excellent condition. We've priced them lower than at book auctions, and we'll consider purchase of one or two volumes to fill in a collection. Come and have a look if you are a western fan.

After selling out our VCR tapes, more - mostly popular movies - have magically appeared in response to your requests.
