It's a wrap!
It was a long time coming, but Old Texas Square, a sprawling complex that included a restaurant, hotel, cantina and deli, is now history - and everyone has breathed a sigh of relief. Demolition by Chastain Construction began Tuesday, July 24, with the resultant wreckage likely to be hauled away soon, according to officials with the City of Bandera. The timely demise of the circa 1948 burned-out structure will hopefully pave the way for a new hotel that will jumpstart the revitalization of the north end of town. There is no truth to the rumor that Executive Director Rebecca Norton entered into negotiations to secure the complex's "Beeeeeeeg Margaritas" sign for the Frontier Times Museum. However, as shown by this photo, the equally-as-irritating stuffed dummies played an integral part in the demolition process. Hasta la vista, Old Texas Square.
