Bandera ISD board calls for elections

By Carolyn B. Edwards BCC Staff Writer

The Bandera ISD board of directors called for their next election of members during their regular meeting held Monday, July 9.

Two positions on the board, Place 3 and Place 4, will be on the ballot in November.

Place 3 is currently held by Board President Dr. Barbara Skipper; Place 4 is held by Lee Haile.

Monday, July 23, will be the first day to file for a place on the ballot and Monday, August 20 will be the last day for filing. Anyone interested in filing should go to the district's central office located at 815 Pecan. The office is open 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday.

Early voting will begin on Oct. 22. The General Election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 6.

The BISD board voted last year to change it's regular board election from the traditional May date to November. It is expected that combining elections will lead to larger voter turn-outs and save taxpayers' dollars.

The district has entered into an agreement with Bandera County Elections Administrator Toba Perez-Wright to conduct the Nov. 6 election.
