Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Joshua D. Brown Chapter, will conduct a Texas Lineage Research Day on Saturday, July 14 at the Kerr Regional History Center and Archives, located at 425 Water St. in Kerrville.

The event is open to anyone interested in proving they had a Texas ancestor who was in Texas before Feb. 19, 1846, when Texas became part of the United States.

This could be an easy first step toward becoming a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the Sons of the Republic of Texas, or the Children of the Republic of Texas.

Residents in Kerrville, Kerr County, Boerne, Comfort, Kendall and Bandera Counties, and Fredericksburg areas are especially encouraged to take advantage of this free offer of assistance.

Chapter members will also be able to provide information on membership requirements and how to become a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

"Bring any papers or other information you may have that could lead to finding that Texas ancestor," said a spokesman.

For more information, contact Pat Gaines at 210-274-5257 or Shirley Hagele at 830- 997-1452. Gaines may also be reached via e-mail at pgaines_1225@yahoo.com.
