Texas Economic Development & Energy Summit set for August


The Texas Economic Development & Energy Summit will focus on the nexus between Texas' energy marketplace and jobs, local growth opportunities and the environment. Organizers believe that dialogue between political, business, academic and industry leaders will drive innovation and opportunity in response to the growing energy economy in South Texas and beyond.

The summit will be held August 24 at the San Antonio Marriot Rivercenter from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. A job fair will be open the event on Thursday, August 23 at the San Antonio Convention Center from 3:30 to 8:30 pm. A VIP cocktail reception will be held that evening from 5:30 to 7 pm.

The break out sessions are scheduled for both days.

There will be break out session held on the subjects of Critical Infrastructure (Housing Transportation), Energy Demand (Natural Gas Vehicles, Power Generation), Industry Opportunities (Technology in the Field, Women in the Workforce), and Local Impact (Building the Workforce Pipeline, Business Opportunities).

General sessions will cover "What does the Eagle Ford mean to Texas?," "Shale booms in Texas: Economic development and local impacts," "Texas economic competitiveness and workforce," "Air and water: State and federal perspectives."

The Marriot Rivercenter is located at 101 Bowie Street.
