Benefit for Jilek this weekend


The Cowboy Capitol Trail Ride and Helotes Trail Dusters are hosting a benefit trail ride for Mary Jilek this Friday and Saturday, June 8 and 9. The funds will help Jilek with medical expenses incurred after being kicked by a horse.

The cost of the ride is $35 for adults and $17 for children.

Registration begins at 7 pm Friday evening at the McMullen Ranch on FM 3240.

Camping is available and it's bring your own food and drinks.

A negative Coggins is required for all horses.

Ride out time on Saturday will be 9:30 am with a lunch stop at Peaceful Valley Road.

Lunch will be provided by Baja Mexico Restaurant.

The noon meal for riders will be followed by a ride to the Wildhorse Saloon in Bandera where a barbecue meal and auction will be held, including music by Paul Sanchez and Wrangler Country.

Serving of the barbecue plates, at $8 each, at Wildhorse, 134 River Bend, off of SH 16 North, will begin at noon Saturday.

Donation checks should be made out directly to Mary Jilek.
