Now, Mailboxes take hit

This series of destroyed mailboxes was located on Casey Drive, just off FM 3240 - aka Ridge Route.

Since these boxes were on a county road, the boxholder is responsible for replacing the box.

The carrier will hold the boxholder's mail at the Bandera Post Office until repairs are made.

According to a spokesman for the post office, county residents affected by this crash have requested to have individual boxes placed in front of their residences.

The post office is currently processing the requests.

For mailboxes in state highway rights-of-way, the Texas Department of Transportation supplies the mounts due to safety issues.

Boxholders with damaged mailboxes must report to the post office or TxDOT office with their new mailbox and fill in a request form.
