The community of Utopia is throwing a benefit barbecue for the family of Gary Davis on Monday, May 28, Memorial Day.

Serving begins at noon at the Utopia Community Building, just behind the firehouse.

Plates will include tender, juicy brisket, beans, potato salad, slaw, tea and dessert.

Gary Davis, the Heart of the Utopia EMS, was injured in a wreck last year when the ambulance he was driving was hit by a car. During the course of his recovery, Gary was diagnosed with bone cancer in his leg. His wife and granddaughter are also experiencing major medical conditions.

All funds donated at this lunch will go to the Davis family to assist with their health care.

Anyone who cannot attend but would like to donate may send a check to Gary Davis Fund, First State Bank of Uvalde, 200 Nopal, Uvalde, TX 78801.
