'Terrorism & Texas Border' seminar announced


Professor Jeffrey Addicott, director of the Center for Terrorism Law at St. Mary's University School of Law, in San Antonio, will present an all-day law enforcement seminar entitled "Terrorism and the Texas Border: Protecting the Police who Protect Us."

The seminar will be presented in conjunction with the Jourdanton Police Department and Texas Municipal Police Association from 8 am until 5 pm, Thursday, July 26, at the Jourdanton Community Center, 1404 Texas Highway 16, in Jourdanton.

Texas peace officers attending the seminar will receive eight TCLEOSE (Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education) hours.

Addicott served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps for 20 years, retiring in 2000 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. An internationally recognized authority on national security law, terrorism law and human rights law, he lectures and participates in professional and academic organizations both in the United States and abroad. He also contributes frequently to national and international news shows, including the FOX News Channel and MSNBC.

Addicott has published over 20 books, including "Winning the War on Terror," in addition to articles and monographs on a variety of legal topics. He serves as a presenter at the FBI's Senior Leadership Academy.

Cost for the seminar is $49 per person, which includes lunch for all pre-registered participants. Since space is limited, law enforcement officers are advised to reserve seats as soon as possible for this informational session. Agencies who send five officers will get an additional seat free,
