Pallaske resigns as Bandera mayor

By Judith Pannebaker BCC Editor

In an act not entirely unanticipated, on Thursday, May 3, City of Bandera Mayor Horst Pallaske announced his resignation effective Thursday, May 31. He cited health reasons for being unable to complete his second term at the helm of the municipality.

Pallaske also resigned as president of the Bandera Economic Development Corporation, effective the same date.

He has been an EDC director since the late 1990s.

During a regular meeting on Thursday, May 17, city council will take action on accepting the mayor's resignation.

City elections will be held during the Tuesday, Nov. 6, General Election. Two council seats - those of Councilmen Nancy Montgomery and John Hegemier - will be up for grabs.

Montgomery has indicated she will not seek re-election. The position of mayor will also be on the ballot.

In related business, council also accepted the resignation of City Treasurer Ernie DeWinne, who had resigned earlier that week. A search is currently underway for DeWinne's replacement.
