River cleanup entertainment announced


Rodney Joe Smith, singer-songwriter from Pipe Creek, and John "Woody" Wood, guitar picker from Boerne, will perform at the 12th annual Medina River Cleanup at 6 pm, Saturday, May 5, at Bandera City Park.

Smith, who has been full time in the music business for a decade, writes his own arrangements, plays guitar and harmonica and sings. Wood, who has international performing experience and now plays with a rock band in San Antonio, will accompany Smith.

The cleanup begins with registration from 9 am until noon at Bandera City River Park near the dam. All participants will receive a free T-shirt. A barbecue and entertainment for participants and donors will begin at 5 pm.

The Medina River Protection Fund, a public charity, traditionally sponsors the annual cleanup the first Saturday of May.
