Kerr Dems discuss Affordable Care Act in Texas

On Tuesday, April 10, the Kerr Area Chapter of the Texas Democratic Women will present the program, "The Affordable Health Care Act," and how this federal healthcare reform in Texas is rolling out.

Questions will be answered as to what has been accomplished and remains to be done. "The Center for Public Policy Priorities Presenter Anne Dunkelberg, associate director for the Center for Public Policy Priorities, focuses on policy and budget issues related to health care access. She also deals with general issues related to immigrants' access to public benefits.

Dunkelberg joined the CPPP in 1994 after working for the State Medicaid Director's Office at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. She serves as a co-chairman for the statewide Texas CHIP Coalition, and was honored in 2007 by Families USA in Washington DC as an outstanding Consumer Health Advocate.

In 2008, Dunkelberg was recognized by the LBJ School of Public Affairs Alumni Association as a Distinguished Public Servant. In 2012, she was named a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance.

A native Texan, Dunkelberg received her BA from the University of Texas at Austin, and her MPA from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at University of Texas Austin.

A nonpartisan, nonprofit 501(c)(3) policy institute, the Center for Public Policy Priorities (CPPP) is committed to improving public policies to better the economic and social conditions of low- and moderate-income Texans.

The meeting will be held at The Kroc Center, 201 Holdsworth Drive, in Kerrville. Registration will start at 11:15 am. To facilitate registration, those paying by check are asked to make the check payable to Kerr Chapter of TDW. The Italian luncheon is $14 and reservations must be made by Thursday, April 5.
