MLPS unveils 100th anniversay poster

The Medina Lake Preservation Society (MLPS) will host a Medina Lake Dam Centennial Poster Art Exhibit and Sweets Reception from 4 pm until 6 pm, Friday, March 9, at the Bandera County Public Library, 515 Main Street.

The following Friday, March 16, a second Poster Art Exhibit and Sweets Reception will be held at the new Castroville Chamber of Commerce building, 1115 Angelo, at the corner of Highway 90. Times will be from 4 pm to 6 pm.

Members of the MLPS invite parents, students and the general public to the reception and enjoy the amazing artwork and have a sweet treat.

Last year, the MLPS held a poster contest to select an official artwork to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the completion of Medina Lake Dam.

Five winners were selected from the submissions of art students from the Bandera and Medina Valley Independent School Districts. The grand prize winner was designated as the official Centennial poster.

The entry of Emilee Mason, a Bandera Middle School art student, was selected as the grand prize winner.

Mason will sign and number a maximum of 100 of her posters and will be on hand at the library during the reception.The first place and honorable mention winning posters will also be exhibited, along with a selection of other poster entries.

The limited edition, signed and numbered Medina Lake Dam Official Centennial posters are destined to become a collector's item and will be on sale for $25 each. Unsigned-numbered posters will also be available for $10. All proceeds from the poster sales will benefit the MLPS Medina Lake Dam Centennial Celebration, slated for August 25.
