Vietnam veterans' reunion Sunday

By Carolyn B. Edwards BCC Staff Writer

Baja Mexicali Restaurant and Tamale Factory will host a Vietnam Veterans Reunion Sunday, March 18, at the café at 120 Riverbend Road on Highway 16 north of Bandera near Mansfield Park.

"This will be a welcome home for these veterans and everything will be totally free to them," said organizer Tony Villareal.

Villareal is a veteran himself and says, "This is a cause I really believe in."

The café plans to start the Reunion with a chow line breakfast at 8 am and serve chopped brisket sandwiches for lunch.

The special guest speaker for the day will be Medal of Honor nominee Jesse Saucedo. Other special guests will include Special Forces troops. There will be music and other entertainment throughout the day.

"We'll need help that day with handicapped vets, serving, set up and clean up," said Villareal. Also tables, chairs, shade canopies and donations to provide free beer to the vets are all welcome.

Anyone interested in helping with the event should call Tony at the café at 830-796-4587.
