Two-day CERT training announced

Bandera CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) will hold a two-day training preparedness class for residents of Bandera County and surrounding areas.

The course will be held from 8 am to 5 pm, Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4, at the Bandera Electric Cooperative, 3172 Highway 16 North.

Participants must attend both days.

Classes will include fire safety, disaster scenarios, terrorism, basic medical operations, search and rescue procedures and knowledge needed to survive. The training is designed to teach community preparedness in the event of a disaster.

After completing this course, participants will receive a training certificate and personal volunteer ID along with the materials and a CERT backpack.

There is no cost for this informative class, but seating is limited so those interested are urged to RSVP as soon as possible. Individuals must be at least 16 years old to participate in the training. They must also present written permission of parents or legal guardians.

"You can make a difference by using your CERT training to save lives and protect property," said a spokesman for the training.
