Student Aid Saturdays helps fill out financial aid apps

The Student Aid Saturdays Program will host events every Saturday through March 17 at various locations throughout San Antonio. The program partners with schools, businesses, and education-focused community organizations to offer free help filling out complicated federal and state forms for college financial aid.
Through a collaboration of the City of San Antonio, San Antonio Education Partnership, Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, Café College, and Generation TX San Antonio, this program will help area students apply for financial aid for college. Students who complete and submit a FAFSA application are 350 percent more likely to go to college, according to Student Futures Project.
To determine aid eligibility, students and parents should fill out federal or state financial aid forms as early as possible beginning Jan. 1, 2012. Financial aid is awarded on first-come, first-serve basis. The sooner students apply for financial aid the more money they are likely to receive.
Student Aid Saturdays Programs is a fantastic opportunity for students and their parents to get one-on-one help filing the FAFSA or TAFSA. Trained college financial aid officers will answer question and provide assistance with scholarship applications. All help will be provided in both English and Spanish at every event site.
