Stone shares Nagel Clinic info with local Dems

K. Irene Stone, executive director of the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic, was the speaker for the Bandera County Democratic Club's monthly meeting on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Silver Sage Senior Center, presided over by Club President, Gary Moore.

Stone reported that 35 percent of Bandera County's 20,000 residents have no health insurance. The clinic, already bulging at the seams, is serving 1,200 men and women, but five times as many more qualify for these services.

No government funding is provided to the Nagel Clinic, which is dependent on monetary support from individuals, churches, companies, and local foundations. Plans for expansion are well under way. Citizens are encouraged to pledge financial backing for this project and/or to volunteer at the clinic.

Peggy Araiza, who introduced Stone, has been a volunteer at the Arthur Nagel Clinic, along with her husband Bill, both members of the BCDC.
