Celebrate Texas Day in Utopia

Announcement

Plans are underway for a big Celebrate Texas Day at the Sabinal Canyon Museum, beginning at 1 pm, Tuesday, March 6, on the grounds behind the museum.

World Champion Trick Roper Kevin Fitzpatrick of Bandera will be on hand to perform for school students and museum guests. Fitzpatrick and his paint horse, Chief, have performed all over the United States and Fitzpatrick has been designated as the Official Trick Roper for the State of Texas. "This should be a treat for all ages," said a spokesman for the event.

There will also be special displays in the museum, a tractor and classic car show, live music and fruit cobbler warm from the dutch-oven cobbler with ice cream for those who attend. Everyone is urged to bring a lawn chair, dress for the weather and enjoy a delightful afternoon that is "purely Texas."

Anyone can participate in the homegrown festivities. Local musicians are invited to provide a toe tappin' backdrop for the festivities; kitchen mavens are asked to help cook cobblers the old-fashioned way; and owners of vintage and historic cars and trucks are being solicited for the car show.
