Lamb & goat validation set for Saturday, Oct. 31
Contributed
All 4-H and FFA members in Bandera County are reminded that Lamb and Goat Validation will take place from 8 am through 11 am, Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Show Barn at Mansfield Park.
Breakfast tacos and drinks will be available for sale.
Market lambs, goats or breeding sheep that will be shown at county or major livestock shows must be validated this day.
Ear tags, nose-prints, and pull DNA samples will be necessary on all state validated lambs. State validated goats will be ear tagged, tattooed and have DNA samples pulled. County Show only validated lambs and goats will be ear tagged and tattooed. Registered breeding sheep going to major shows will have DNA samples pulled and exhibitors must bring photocopies of their registration papers.
There will be two lines – one for lambs and one for goats. The lamb line will form to the right approaching the Show Barn and the goat line to the left. Signs will be posted. Additionally, animals must not be unloaded until exhibitors get to the validation tables.
Exhibitors and a parent or guardian must be present to complete and sign paperwork on Saturday.
Exhibitors in 4-H who have not purchased a validation tag are asked to contact the County Extension Office immediately; FAA members must see their Ag Science teacher.
For more information, call the Bandera County Office of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service at 830-796-7755.
