75th annual Jr. Livestock Show & Sale schedule

The 75th Annual Bandera County Junior Livestock Show and Sale will be held Wednesday through Saturday, Jan. 12, 13, 14 and 15, at the Mansfield Park Show Barn.
This year, there are over 636 entries in the show. Members of 4-H and FFA clubs from all over the county will participate.
These youngsters are joined by a hard-working crowd of volunteers who donate countless hours to make the event a success.

Wednesday, Jan. 12

• 7 pm - 9 pm - All animals may arrive, except poultry and rabbits.
• 7 pm - 9 pm - Ag Mechanic Projects must arrive.

Thursday. Jan. 13

• 8 am - Animals start arriving
• 8 am -10 am - Poultry and rabbits will be weighed and sifted as they unload; All others unloaded and stalled first
• 10 am - All animals in place
• 10 am - Rabbit showmanship
• 10 am - Weigh and sift lambs, goats, cattle and hogs
• 12:30 pm - Judge Breeding Sheep, followed by Market Lambs
- Sheep Showmanship (follows Market Lamb Show)
• 1 pm - Judge Broilers, followed by Turkeys
- Poultry Showmanship (follows Turkey Show)
• 3:30 pm - Judge Angora Goats
• 4:30 pm - Judge Meat Does followed by Market Goats
- Goat Showmanship (follows Goat Show)
• 6 pm - Judge Farm Mechanics Projects

Friday, Jan. 14

• 8 am - Judge Breeding Cattle, followed by Market Steers - Cattle Showmanship (follows Steer Show)
• 8 am - Judge Market Rabbits, followed by Breeding Rabbits
• 10 am - Judge Market Swine, followed by Breeding Swine - Swine Showmanship (follows Swine Show)
• 2 pm - Horse Show - Rodeo arena
• 1 pm - Deadline for exhibitor to notify superintendent of which animal they intend to sell. (or conclusion of market swine show)
• TBA - Load floored animals - All feeders, handling supplies, etc. should be removed from barn.
• TBA - Barn setup after Swine Show.

Saturday, Jan. 15

• 10:30 am - Buyer Registration
• 11 - noon - Buyer BBQ Lunch
• 11:30 am - Stock Show Awards
• 12 pm - Livestock Auction

Food and drinks will be available at the concession stand during the entire show and auction. All proceeds benefit the Bandera County 4-H program.
"The highlight of the show is the auction of prize-winning livestock on Saturday. This is how our exhibitors get rewarded for all the work they put into their projects," said Warren Thigpen, Bandera County Extension Agent with Texas AgriLife Extension Service.
Visa and Mastercard will be accepted at the auction on Saturday. "We want to make it as convenient as possible for our buyers to support the youth," said BCJLS Stock Show Treasurer Laurie Haynes.

For 75 years, the Bandera County Junior Livestock Show and Sale has been the culmination of a year of work for 4-H and FFA club members. Head on out to Mansfield Park Thursday through Saturday to support some of our county\'s finest youth along with their animals and projects.
