The 15th annual Hill Country Goat Classic, sponsored by the Bandera County 4-H Club, will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, in the Show Barn at Mansfield Park on Highway 16 North.
The competition includes market goats, dairy goats, meat does and Angora goats from across the area.
Roy Sanders will begin judging Angoras at 10 am. At 11 am, Steve Sturtz from San Angelo will evaluate dairy goats, meat does and market goats. After expenses, all proceeds are paid back to exhibitors in prize money.
“The show started 15 years ago to give local 4-H and FFA members a chance to get their goats out and practice grooming, hauling and showmanship before their county shows and major livestock shows next year,” explained Bandera County Extension Agent, AG/NR Warren Thigpen.
Members of the Bandera County 4-H Clover Booster Club will sell food and beverages during the competition.
