A South Texas man was charged with a felony of obtaining property by false pretenses, and a warrant was issued for his arrest in Bryan County, Oklahoma on Thursday, July 10. Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) Special Ranger Bart Perrier led the investigation.
On June 6, the suspect, Raymond James "RJ" Fleming, 30, purchased 40 head of livestock from the Caddo Livestock Auction, located in Bryan County, for $52,000 and issued the auction a check for purchase. Later that same day, Fleming wrote another check to the same auction in the amount of $60,805 for the purchase of 23 additional head of cattle. Both checks were returned due to insufficient funds.
Perrier and TSCRA Special Rangers John Bradshaw and Tommy Charbula are working together and continuing to investigate this case. They have revealed that Fleming has written other worthless checks for the purchase of livestock across Oklahoma and Texas.
The TSCRA special rangers investigating this case expect more charges to be filed on Fleming.
