2012-10-11Lamb & goat validation Oct. 15 & 17
By Sam Womble County Extension Agent
Lamb and Goat Validation for 4-H and FFA members will take place from
5 pm to 7 pm on Monday, Oct.15 and Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Mansfield Park.
Any market lamb or goat that will be shown at the county or major livestock shows must be validated. Breeding sheep for major stock shows will also be validated.
We will ear tag, tattoo, nose-print, and pull hair for a DNA assay on all state validated lambs. State validated goats will be ear tagged, tattooed and have hair pulled.
County Show only validated lambs and goats will be ear tagged and tattooed.
There will be two lines - one for lambs and one for goats. The lamb line will form to the left as you approach the showbarn, the goat line to the right. Both lines will turn and go between the showbarn and white pole barn. They will exit behind the recreation center. Do not unload animals until you get up to the validation tables.
Exhibitors and parent and/or guardian must be present to complete and sign paperwork.
If you have not purchased your validation tag or have a conflict with the validation date, please contact the County Extension Office at 830-796-7755, or your respective Ag Science Teacher.
