Would you like to learn to make your own rain barrel?
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agent Roy Walston and Hill Country Master Gardener Anne Brown are teaming up to present a training and barrel-making session Oct. 17, from 10 am - 12 noon, at the office, 3655 Hwy 27, Kerrville.
"We'll have a training session, then all participants will make their very own rain barrel to take home," said Brown.
Rainwater is valued for its purity. It has a nearly neutral pH, and is free from disinfection by-products, salts, minerals, and other contaminants.
"Saving rainwater has become especially popular during our dry spells," said Brown, who added that the best time to build a rain barrel is before the next rain.
The session, limited to 20 participants, is open to the public.
Cost is $15 for instruction and $35 for barrel materials.
Register by calling the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agent's office, 830-257-6568 before Oct. 15.
