Validated & qualified swine can enter Texas without health certificate

The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) passed a rule effective Sunday, July 1, that will allow swine consigned directly from out-of-state premises with "Validated Brucellosis Free," and "Qualified Pseudorabies (PRV) Free" status, to enter specifically approved Texas livestock markets without a certificate of veterinary inspection (CVI) and an entry permit.

Since the swine are from brucellosis and PRV free herds, they will not need to be tested for those diseases prior to change of ownership at the Texas market. This rule is intended to facilitate interstate movement and acknowledges the increased marketing value of swine herds that have attained brucellosis and PRV free status.
