The Kerrville Performing Arts Society has teamed up with two local organizations in a “Community Collaboration” to bring the two-time Grammy Award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir to the Texas Hill Country in April. The First United Methodist Church in Kerrville and Fredericksburg’s Rockbox Theatre will each host one performance by this world-renowned ensemble.

Seating will be limited to 400 seats at each venue. KPAS volunteers will coordinate the efforts at both venues, but all proceeds will benefit the First United Methodist Church and Rockbox Theatre.

On Tuesday, April 6, the choir performs at 7:30 pm, at the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church. General admission tickets for this event are $30 and are available only at the First United Methodist Church Office, 321 Thompson Drive in Kerrville. Telephone is 830-257-0800. The church office will accept cash and checks during their regular business hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Phone orders will not be accepted.

A second performance, slated for 7:30 pm, Wednesday, April 7, will be held in Fredericksburg at the Rockbox Theater. Reserved seating tickets for this event can be purchased at the theater, 109 North Llano Street in Fredericksburg. Prices range from $28 to $40. The Rockbox Ticket Office is open from 9 am to 6 pm, Monday through Saturday and can be purchased by cash or check. Credit card users can call 866-349-6688 or 830-997-7625.

Tickets are currently available at both venues.
Since their first international performances in 2002, the Soweto Gospel Choir has become a worldwide phenomenon, performing sell-out concerts at the world’s greatest concert halls.

Vocalists with the Soweto Gospel Choir have sung alongside superstars including Bono, Queen, Annie Lennox, Dionne Warwick, Jimmy Cliff and Celine Dion.

The choir has performed for Nelson Mandela, Oprah Winfrey and former President Bill Clinton as well as offering “Happy Birthday” to their beloved patron, Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
