BPA squad going to State!

Top students from Bandera High School qualified at the Area 2 Region 2 conference meet on Saturday, Jan. 23, at O’Conner High School in Helotes.
The following students placed and the top three in each category will attend the Business Professionals of America 2010 State Leadership Conference, in Fort Worth, Texas, March 3 through March 6.
First place winners were Karley Griffin, Advanced Word Processing; Elijah Escobedo, Database Applications; Katelyn Hayes, Desktop Publishing; and Jeremiah Robison, Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications.
Second place winners were Sara Zavorka, Keyboarding; Taylor Hayes, Desktop Publishing; Kelsey Dyes, Extemporaneous Speaking; Josh Young, Prepared Speech; JD Porterfield, JAVA Programming; Rayne Hicks, Economic Research Team; Erin Roder, Economic Research Team; Stacy Widner, Economic Research Team; and Lauren Lyssy, Economic Research Team.
Third place winners were Colleen Werchan, Integrated Office Applications; Mark Zimmerscheid, Graphic Design Promotion; Jeff Jensen, Advanced Spreadsheet Applications; and Erin Roder, Desktop Publishing.
Fourth place winners were Cassidy Gase, Keyboarding; and Stacy Widner, Advanced Word Processing; fifth place winners, Gabriel Salazar, Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications; and Cassie Lutz, Fundamental Word Processing; and sixth place, Keeley Naico, Graphic Design Promotion; and Kayla Berger, Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications.
BHS chapter members will join over 2,500 other conference delegates from across the state to participate in state level business skill competitions, general sessions and the state officer candidate campaigns and elections. Along with the opportunity to compete, the students will visit Fort Worth’s exciting and historical sites.
“Students from the Texas Association’s Regional Leadership Conference have qualified to participate at the state level conference. The conference emphasizes business workforce education and training which members of the local chapter of Business Professionals of America at Bandera High School have received,” said chapter advisor, Colleen Lewis, who teaches computer applications at Bandera High School.
