January 2010 marks the launch of the new School at Majestic Ranch, a nonprofit organization offering premier classes and workshops in a variety of mediums. The Majestic Ranch Arts Foundation is located on a on a 525-acre ranch on Highway 46 West in Kendall County.
Rachman Ulmer, executive director at Majestic Ranch, has created a special place for people to study and experience art in the Texas Hill Country. She remarked, “The atmosphere of the art school encourages a community of camaraderie and inspiration. This is a relaxed environment in which artists merge with their work, releasing the stress of the outside world.”
According to Ulmer, the range of expertise among the faculty involved in the school has expanded with new classes and instructors.
New instructor Paul Heaston will teach Figurative Oil Painting and Exploring Your Sketchbook. Accomplished Connecticut artist, Anne Parker will offer a three-day workshop for Collagraphy Printmaking on the Intaglio Hand Press. At the end of January, glass art expert, Susan Connors, will teach a new glass-fusing workshop at the end of January.
French artist Murielle Vallot will teach a French Framing workshop in January. Stephanie Stokes will teach Nuno Felting Fantasy and Kathleen Cook will explore the beauty and versatility of pastels.
The school still offers its core classes and workshops for adults and children in painting, ceramics, drawing, stone sculpture, and much more.
A special meet and greet with instructors and staff will take place from 5 pm until 8 pm, Saturday, Jan. 9. Everyone is invited to interact with the artists on a one-to-one basis and get a “taste” of the class and workshop offerings available beginning on Jan. 19.
Additionally, in 2010, the arts school will be a recipient of proceeds from the Birdies for Charity Program, sponsored by the Valero Texas Open, and the San Antonio Children’s Foundation. through the Children’s Art Achievement Program, the School will provide art instruction for children and youth at-risk in conjunction with the “WE CAN” program, a student Mentoring Program of Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries of Boerne.
