The lathes at the Majestic Ranch Arts Foundation are turning up the RPMs as George Hatfield, an internationally renowned Australian wood turner, brings his show to town.
The woodturning workshop will take place from 10 am until 3 pm, Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Majestic Ranch Arts Foundation on Highway 46 in Kendall County. Cost is $30 per person.
Well known for his entertaining demonstrations and infectious enthusiasm, Hatfield also displays consummate skill. Through decades of study, he has mastered numerous woodturning techniques as well as conducted Australia’s only trade school course devoted entirely to woodturning.
Hatfield is credited with educating generations of commercial and artisan wood turners, bringing a vast trove of knowledge and experience to the Hill Country.
The fall session of classes and workshops at the Majestic Ranch Arts Foundation begins Sept. 14. The foundation offers classes in ceramics, stone sculpture, woodworking, painting, fiber arts, drawing, watercolor, digital photography, children’s programs, blacksmithing and welding, among others.
