Bikers go ‘hog wild’ for Bandera library
Contributed
For the past several years, iron horses have become a natural in Bandera County.
Motorcycle enthusiasts have finally discovered what locals have known for years – there’s no better ride than through the Texas Hill Country. In fact “Ride Texas,” a well-known magazine for bikers, not only lists Bandera County as one of the best rides in the state, but also identifies several local establishments as favorite destinations of bikers.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 13, 14 and 15, bikers from all over South Texas will join together and support the seventh annual Wild Hog Explosion and All Bike Rally, sponsored by the Longhorn Saloon. Bikers from as far away as Delaware have registered to ride in a benefit for the Bandera County Public Library.
Pre-registration begins at 6 pm, Friday March 13, at the Longhorn Saloon, 1307 Main Street. Owners Brian Black and Charlotte Browning will host bike displays, cycle-related vendors and great music. Pre-registration is $15 per person.
At 9 am, Saturday, March 14, registration – and the action – moves to Mansfield Park on Highway 16 North. Registered bikers will chow down on free breakfast tacos, courtesy of El Jacalito.
Vendors will be open for business and bikers will receive their route for the Koyote Ranch Poker Run Poker Run. Last bike out is at noon.
Bikers must return to Mansfield Park by 4 pm for drawings that include cash and great prizes. At 4:30 pm, a special Alamo Cycle Plex “Ride and Shine Competition” will take place near the rodeo arena.
That evening the All Bike Rally culminates with an entertaining “Gone Hog Wild” celebration at the Longhorn Saloon.
For riders who just can’t get enough, Sunday brings a special “Pie Run” to Love Creek Orchards Apple Store in Medina.
