Medina EMS Support Team gives up building – gladly

Medina EMS Support Team President Susan Tefft recently handed the keys to the EMS building over to Medina Volunteer Fire Department Chief Shane Keese, signaling a new era in Medina.

The event occurred on Saturday, Feb. 7.

“Because the county now runs the EMS, our building and services have been under utilized during the past few years. At Ernie Gibson’s suggestion, our support team decided the best way to help the Medina community was to donate our building to the Medina Volunteer Fire Department,” Tefft said.

According to Tefft, the expanded department has a new truck and have simply “outgrown their space.” She added, “We are honored to be able to help them and the community in this way. They have also been generous enough to house the EMS ambulance at the old fire station.”

During the celebration, founding member Jayne Rambin spoke with pride about the organization she started, how it has developed and how much it has benefited the community.

“In the last two years, we have raised enough money to supply four defibrillators to the Medina community. And now, with gifting our building to the MVFD, I feel Medina is a safer place. The EMS will always have a place in our hearts and our help if needed,” Rambin explained.

The celebration included Delicious® tamales smothered in chili and cheese, homemade cookies and fresh iced tea.

Additionally, the band Caliche Hills provided great, foot tappin’ music all evening.

Over 150 people attended this down home, fun community event.

Members of the Medina Volunteer Fire Department would be happy to show off their new “digs,” so stop by. And, don’t forget to support these local, hard working folks that keep the Medina area safe.
