Gifted and talented students from Bandera and Boerne are spending the summer at the Majestic Ranch Arts Foundation (MRAF) sharpening their artistic skills.
The students attend classes in photography, ceramics and acrylic painting each week in a new scholarship program offered by the foundation. The program enables them to use state of the art resources at the foundation and learn from master artists.
“We are so excited to be making use of the professional dark room and wet lab for our photography classes,” said Connie Young, a teacher with the Bandera Independent School District, who leads the group in photography.
MRAF’s Creative Director Stevie Ricks teaches acrylic painting and master ceramicist Michael Saul shows students the use the potter’s wheel and how to throw pots.
“The students are excited and really want to learn all they can,” Saul said, “They also lend a hand through an internship program, helping with the Summer Children’s Program.
Bandera students John Chaffin, Emily Jennings, Christine Lister and Bob Scheel participated in MRAF art classes this summer.
