'Choir of choirs' to perform in Boerne

Announcement

The "choir of all choirs" will soon be traveling from Vienna, Austria, to the United States. The Vienna Boys Choir will be the featured artists for the inaugural concert of the Boerne Performing Arts. Local residents will experience firsthand the vocal music tradition that has filled concert halls and cathedrals around the world - all this within a short drive from their home.

Highlights of the choir's performances over the past two months include a sold-out appearance at Carnegie Hall in New York and at the Vienna Philharmonic's famous New Year's Concert conducted by Mariss Jansons. Truly a tradition in Vienna, the choir continues to delight music-lovers across the globe with their purity of tone, distinctive charm and a diverse, crowd pleasing repertoire.

"Boerne Performing Arts is thrilled to be opening their inaugural season with a family-oriented, world-class performing arts organization of this magnitude," said Carol Schultz, chairman of the Boerne Performing Arts. "There is a good chance that everyone in our community has heard this group on a CD, especially over the Christmas holidays. Their recordings are numerous, especially with holiday carols, and their angelic tone qualities are like no other choir."

The appearance of the Vienna Boys Choir is made possible through the generous sponsorships of GVTC Communications and the Boerne Star.

Boerne Performing Arts operates under the auspices of the Hill Country Council for the Arts, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

As the Vienna Boys Choir tradition continues into 2012, residents can join the new tradition of bringing the world of performing arts to the Hill Country.
